How to Get Involved
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the Nevada Department of Wildlife! We have two types of volunteers: project volunteers and instructor volunteers.
Project volunteers often help us out in the field to collect and process data, survey animals, as well as restore habitats. To get signed up as a project volunteer, please create a volunteer account on this site. The opportunities tab will list our upcoming volunteer events throughout the state. This page updates regularly, so if you don't see anything that suits your interests just yet, check back in a few weeks.
Instructor volunteers support our Conservation Education (ConEd) Division in educating students and the public about local wildlife and recreation opportunities. ConEd consists of six programs: angler, archery, boating safety, hunter/shooting sports, wildlife, and urban wildlife. If you are interested in becoming an instructor volunteer, reach out to your regional Volunteer Coordinator so they can put you in contact with the appropriate coordinator. Getting signed up as an instructor requires a background check (paid for by NDOW).
By recording your volunteer hours and mileage, NDOW is able to receive in-kind funds from the federal government to help support our projects and programs. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We're excited to work with you!
