Opportunities From: Nevada Department of Wildlife

Help us bring water to wildlife. Join NDOW and Nevada Bighorns Unlimited Reno to build a bighorn sheep guzzler. Guzzlers provide a reliable water source for wildlife in dry landscapes, and this is a hands-on way to make a real difference. This guzzler is located approximately 175 miles from Reno, NV. The build day will be April 25th.

All tools and materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring plenty of water, food or snacks, and work gloves. Dress in layers since mornings can be cold and afternoons often warm up. Wear sturdy work or hiking boots and clothes you do not mind getting dirty.

An adult must accompany minors. Lunch and dinner will be provided by Nevada Bighorns Unlimited. Final basecamp details and guzzler wayfinding information will be sent out by Nevada Bighorns Unlimited closer to the event.

Help us bring water to wildlife! Join NDOW and WHIN to build small game guzzlers in the Bullfrog Hills near Beatty, NV. A guzzler is constructed to provide a reliable water source to wildlife. The build will be a drive in build. A 4WD and high clearance vehicle is needed to access the guzzler. More details to come.

Spicer Ranch has generously allowed us to use their space as basecamp for this build. We will camp and meet at coordinates 36.994003, -116.716638. Please be respectful of their space. Bathrooms are available. If you do not have a 4WD or high clearance vehicle, you can carpool in another truck from our basecamp.

Tools and materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Bring plenty of water and food/snacks. Dress in layers, as the weather can be cold in the morning and warm up in the afternoon. Wear comfortable work/hiking boots, layers, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We suggest bringing hearing protection, sunglasses for eye protection, knee pads, and work gloves if you have them. Dates are subject to change. Join NDOW & Elko Bighorns Unlimited (EBU) to help build a 10,000 gallon big game guzzler targeting elk, mule deer and a variety of other wildlife species in the Leach Mountains of Elko County. This guzzler is located approximately 114 miles from  Elko, NV. The build day will be June 27th. All volunteers are welcome to join us at basecamp from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Meals will be provided by EBU, Nevada Muleys and the Mule Deer Foundation from Friday night dinner through Sunday Morning breakfast. Saturday night EBU will host a raffle for all volunteers!

All tools and materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring plenty of water, food or snacks. We recommend to dress in layers to accommodate for temperature fluctuations throughout the day. Plan on bringing gloves, closed toed shoes/boots, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses. Access into the site will require a 4x4 vehicle or a UTV/ATV.

Perform maintenance and biological field work at NDOW's WMAs under the supervision of WMA staff.

Volunteers performing guzzler inspections will check the general condition and potential maintenance needs at guzzlers. The goal of this program is to capitalize on volunteers’ existing scouting or camping trips to help complete annual maintenance inspections and inform NDOW’s work schedule. When out this summer, if your travels take you near a guzzler, please take a few moments to complete an inspection report. The Guzzler Inspection Checklist can be found here. Inspections are done at the volunteer's convenience.

Volunteers performing guzzler maintenance will work with our guzzler crew to make any needed repairs, alterations, preparations, or perform finishing touches on guzzlers throughout the state. Volunteers should be comfortable driving in rugged terrain, using tools, and performing manual labor.
