Guzzlers: New Flipper Build

Expired

Description

Help us bring water to wildlife! Join NDOW, the Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn, GoHunt, Nevada Bighorns Unlimited - Reno, and the Wild Sheep Foundation to build a guzzler in the Muddy Mountains. A guzzler is constructed to provide a reliable water source to wildlife. This build will be a helicopter build. All participants must be at least 12 years of age to board the helicopter. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. We will meet at the staging area then be transported via helicopter to the build site. Anyone boarding the aircraft will be required to sign the Assumption of Risk and Non-Disclosure Agreement. If you are opting out of the helicopter ride and would prefer to drive your high clearance 4WD vehicle to the site, a caravan will be departing from the Echo Bay Airstrip following the safety briefing. Vehicles will be able to drive close to the site, then will have a ~0.25 mile hike from where they park their truck to get to the guzzler.

Tools and materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Bring plenty of water and food/snacks. Dress in layers, as the weather can be cold in the morning and warm up in the afternoon. Wear comfortable work/hiking boots, layers, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We suggest bringing hearing protection, sunglasses for eye protection, knee pads, and work gloves if you have them.

We're excited to be collaborating with the Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn, GoHunt, NBU Reno, and the Wild Sheep Foundation on this build. They've teamed up to graciously provide meals. Sandwiches will be available for Saturday's lunch at the guzzler. After Saturday's build, you're all invited to join us at the Echo Bay Picnic Ground for dinner and a conservation raffle featuring gear and items donated by partners who believe in the future of wild sheep. Breakfast burritos will be provided on Sunday morning.

Dates are subject to change. For more information, contact Michelle Lopez at michelle.lopez@ndow.org or (702) 668-3552.
