Help us bring water to wildlife! Join NDOW and WHIN to build hybrid mule deer and small game guzzlers in the Montezuma Mountains near Goldfield, NV. A guzzler is constructed to provide a reliable water source to wildlife. The build will be a drive in build. A 4WD and high clearance vehicle is needed to access the guzzler. If you do not have a 4WD or high clearance vehicle, you can carpool in another truck from our basecamp.
We will be camping at coordinates 37.62295, -117.23191 from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Friday will be a travel day. On Saturday, we will meet at 6:30am for our safety briefing. We will split into groups. If we are able to complete the guzzlers by Saturday, we will not be meeting on Sunday. WHIN will generously be providing meals throughout the weekend. We will be having dinner on Friday, May 15 from 6pm-8pm at Tonopah's Craft Brew & Taproom.
Tools and materials for the build will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Bring plenty of water and food/snacks. Dress in layers, as the weather can be cold in the morning and warm up in the afternoon. Wear comfortable work/hiking boots, layers, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We suggest bringing hearing protection, sunglasses for eye protection, knee pads, and work gloves if you have them. Dates are subject to change. For more information, contact Brad Bauman at bbauman@ndow.org or (775) 688-1568.
